MEET LOUIS

Lou is a dedicated family man who gives back to his community and has a true understanding of the issues Nevadans are facing.

Lou met his wife Tish through a friend at school during their teenage years and they have been together ever since. The couple has raised their two children, Alexis, 16, and Louis Jr., 7, here in Clark County, which has given Lou a firsthand look and genuine comprehension of the problems Nevada families face everyday. With a sincere desire to make a difference and drive to give back to his community, Lou has striven to be an active citizen in  numerous ways. He currently attends Shadow Hills Baptist Church, while also volunteering with the International Church of Las Vegas. Also, he is involved with Build Nevada, an organization devoted to helping Nevadans receive their GED and land a skilled job in the trades; as well as serving as President of the Astoria Trails HOA, where he ensures that all of the residents’ concerns are addressed.

Lou has built a reputation as a hard working and ethical person, qualities we need in Carson City.

Lou is the Assistant Training Director for the Southern Nevada Laborers Training Trust, as well as a delegate to the Building Trades.  He has also actively worked to rally support for many of our local elected officials, as well as our Congressional and Presidential races. After years of working hard, and a life built on strong principles, Lou is determined to stay true to his beliefs and focused on representing the people of our community and not special interests.  Job creation, improving our educational system, repairing our streets and roads, and working with the banks to help Nevada families stay in their homes will always be his top priorities.

Lou’s tough childhood has helped him to inspire others to take advantage of their education.

Louis DeSalvio was born in Mineola, New York in 1971. He attended the New York Military Academy before moving to Nevada in 1987, where he attended Valley High School. Lou was set to graduate in 1989, but when his parents divorced, his plans changed.  Lou stepped up to the plate and began working in order to keep a roof over the heads of his little brother, sister, and mother. Lou would eventually receive his GED which gave him a great appreciation for education; he is currently working on his Construction Masters Degree.  Lou has prospered from his education, but he will never forget what his life struggles have taught him.
